The United Kingdom and Germany have signed a £52 million defense agreement to acquire advanced mobile artillery technology, the British Ministry of Defence announced on Sunday, underscoring deepening military cooperation between the two European allies.

Under the agreement, the UK will procure the Remote Controlled Howitzer 155 mm (RCH 155) self-propelled artillery system. London will receive a cutting-edge Early Capability Demonstrator platform, while two additional units will be delivered to Germany for joint testing and evaluation.

The Ministry of Defence said the collaboration will allow both countries to share test data and facilities, accelerating procurement timelines while lowering development costs. “This means both nations are accelerating procurement timelines whilst reducing costs — delivering better value for taxpayers and enhanced capability for both Armed Forces,” the ministry said in its statement.

The deal reflects a broader push by European nations to strengthen defense readiness and interoperability amid heightened security concerns, while leveraging joint development to modernize military capabilities more efficiently.
